Henry Eason (Managing Partner)
Henry Eason is founder and managing partner of the San Francisco-based marketing and
public relations agency Eason Communications LLC, organized in 1989. The agency has
developed and implemented numerous marketing, public relations and advertising programs
for financial services, technology, logistics, hospitality, media, real estate, health care, web,
professional services and manufacturing companies, nonprofit associations and government
agencies.  Eason Communications has branded and launched many products, as well as
providing marketing communications start-up services for entire companies, subsidiaries and
divisions. The agency has also created and administered public affairs campaigns for
companies and organizations. Eason has conducted extensive public relations training and
workshops for numerous corporations and for organizations like the American Association of
Architects-San Francisco, BOMA San Francisco, the Society for Marketing Professional
Services, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Association for Accounting Marketing.

Before founding his agency, Eason was director of media relations of the world’s largest
business federation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. He and his
department were responsible for formulating and implementing the Chamber’s
communications strategy to the American business community’s national and global
audiences. This included extensive dealings with not only with the national and international
press corps, but also representatives of many of the nation’s largest trade and professional
associations and corporations as well as foreign governments and global firms.

Prior to that, Eason was senior editor of Nation’s Business (circulation 1.2 million) and
Washington correspondent for The Atlanta Constitution, the other 30 dailies in the Cox
Newspapers chain and the more than 400 news organizations around the world that
subscribed to Cox News Service. He covered Congress, the White House and other executive
agencies, as well as the federal judiciary and national interest groups. He was given many
awards for meritorious reporting, including the National Press Club Award for reporting on
international issues and one of the very few journalists to provide expert testimony on defense
and intelligence issues before a congressional committee.

Before his Washington career, Eason was a political reporter and editor who covered the state
governments of Georgia and South Carolina for major Southeastern daily newspapers and
was founder and publisher of American Chronicle. He earned an M.A. in mass
communications from the University of Georgia and a bachelor’s degree in history and political
science from Armstrong Atlantic State University. He has been a member of the White House
Correspondents Association, the Congressional Correspondents Association, the National
Press Club, American Marketing Association, the Public Relations Society of America, the
International Association of Business Communicators, the Society for Marketing Professional
Services, the Business Marketing Association, the San Francisco Bay Area Publicity Club, the
Commonwealth Club and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. He taught public
relations and reporting in the communications graduate school of George Washington
University and in the University of South Carolina extension program.

He enjoys hiking, jazz, reading widely, fine food and wine, conversation with interesting people
and weekending in Northern California’s vast array of wonderful locales, from Mendocino to Big
Sur. He is married to his partner of 20 years, Ellen Bullington Eason.

Ellen Eason (Partner and Art Director)
Ellen Eason, agency partner, was a legislative and press aide in the U.S. Senate and a public
relations manager at Robert Half International Inc., the world's largest specialized staffing firm.
She joined Eason Communications in 1990, where she is the principal creative director. She
has worked in numerous industry areas, including technology, logistics and health care, but
has distinguished herself particularly in the hospitality field, where she has designed and
managed the agency’s marketing and public relations campaigns for more than 50 hotels and
resorts. Her design projects have won awards from Westin Hotels and Hilton Hotels
Corporation. She currently serves as president of the Northern California Chapter of the  
Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International.

Ellen has also been on the boards of the International Association of Business Communi-
cators, Association of Women in Communications and Junior Achievement. She served as a
co-chair of the legislative committee of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. She has a
certificate in graphic design from the University of California Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree
from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ellen has been a graduate student advisor
for the Academy of Art University and has conducted public relations training at the American
Association of Architects-San Francisco. She is the leader of the Carolina Club alumni
association for UNC in the Bay Area. In her leisure time she enjoys hiking, dining out, wine
tasting, bookbinding, reading Southern fiction and playing the flute.

marketing firms whose skills include branding consultation, direct-mail consulting and
fulfillment, print and online graphic design, marketing research, events planning, public
relations, writing and events planning.  We involve these professionals on an as-needed basis.
Our business model gives our clients both a cost and quality alternative to large bureaucratic
agencies. We only use resources when you need them. And we don’t pass off your work to
junior people.

Many of our talented associates are drawn from organizations in which we are involved as
active members or regular attendees, such as the American Marketing Association, Hospitality
Sales and Marketing Association International, the International Association of Business
Communicators, the Legal Marketing Association, the Public Relations Society of America and
the San Francisco Bay Area Publicity Club. These groups give us a vast regional, national and
even international pool of professionals from which to draw. We carefully screen team
members and choose only those with the most appropriate experience and adherence to
quality standards. We manage and take responsibility for all work commissioned to Eason
Communications LLC.
